The development of spectrometers has always been a major point of interest in the space activities of OIP. OIP has already developed important subsystems of spectrometers in the past (e.g. IMAGE and GERB). Furthermore, OIP has recently specialized in building complete spectrometers for use in airplanes (APEX instrument). Spectrometers based on classic grating spectrometers, combined with Acousto-Optical Tuneable Filters were developed (SOIR instrument). Recently, spectrometer payloads for (small) satellites are in the development phase (OSMU instrument, PROBA-V instrument, ALTIUS instrument).
